Ramses II
During the New Kingdom there was a Pharaoh named Ramses II. He ruled from about 1290 to 1224 B.C.E. Ramses II is known to be one of the most famous pharaohs. One of the key factors that made him a great leader was that he ruled for 60 years, which was longer compared to the other Pharaoh's.
Ramses II lived by the saying, " Go big or go home". This means that Ramses lived his life huge. For example, he had more than 100 wives, and over 100 children! Even some of his hundreds of statues were over 60 feet tall. He also built the most temples and monuments than any other pharaoh in the world.
Ramses' life was a fearless adventure. His fearless adventure began when he joined the army when he was a young boy and he became the captain when he was also ten years old. Not only was he fearless, but he also made peace.
Ramses II made many bold choices in life, but his best decision was signing the world's first peace treaty with Hittites. The Peace treaty didn't last long because Hittites empire fell around 1190 B.C.E.
Ramses most impressive projects was the temple complex at Abu Simbel. The temple was carved into the side of a cliff on bank of the Nile River. Another one of Ramses' impressive projects was a smaller temple that honored his favorite wife, Nefertari.
Ramses II was one of the most famous pharaoh's in the world, but by heart he is the number one pharaoh of all. With all of his impressive temples, projects, peacemaking skills, and Military leadership skills, there is no other pharaoh that could fit the title, the best pharaoh in the world.
