Artisans
After the Scribes were the Artisans, craftspeople. The type of craftspeople were carpenters, metal-workers, painters, sculptors, and stone carvers. Artisans had great skills, they had little to no social status. They made many beautiful object such as marvelous jewelry and elegant furniture. Most of the artisans were men, but women wove fabric, beaded clothing, and made perfume.
The Most Skilled Artisans
The most skilled artisans were the stone carvers. The stone carvers would make the statues, engravings, and reliefs found in temples, tombs, and monuments. Tomb building was an important role for a stone carver. Since the belief of the afterlife in Ancient Egypt was very strong, the wealthy Egyptians would order detailed tombs for when they take their journey into the afterlife. The stone carvers would also decorate the tombs with artwork that represent and honor the individual that began their journey into the afterlife.
